On Writing

I’ve started working on my writing again after taking a little break around my birthday in June. As I’ve been doing that it has brought back a lot of memories. Memories of working at the Dayton’s Distribution Center (that inspired the location and some events in the novel), memories of people there, memories of writing in notebooks on my breaks and at lunch. Also, writing in coffeeshops on Friday and Saturday evenings sometimes. I still find it hard to believe that I have all four notebooks typed up now. Every time I started to type the story up before I thought I would never get it completed. The fact that I did, and faster than I expected to seems like a victory to me.

I am now in the next part of the process where I have to finish the novel. I am wondering now why I completely stopped working on it and what I had in mind for an ending. (Or if I even had an ending in mind. I might not have.) I have some ideas percolating but I’m not sure how exactly I want it to go. I’m not going to give up on it though. Reading and editing as I typed has made me invested in these characters again and I am excited to see where the story leads them (and me.)

I am a writer of Sci-Fi and Horror fiction, poet, photographer, and proud tech geek. I also like volunteering in my community, reading, and creating art.
